Día de los muertos

 

El día de los muertos is a very important holiday in Mexico. It is celebrated on the 2nd of November. Families remember and honor their loved ones who have passed away by making an altar inside their home and placing marigolds, sweets and items that remind them of those they are remembering. During the night families walk to the cemetery to place food and flowers on the grave.

A traditional children's song from the day of the dead:

Estaba la muerte un día, Dibidí

Sentada en su escritorio, Dobodó

Buscando papel y lápiz, Dibidí

Para escribirle al novio, Dobodó

El novio le contestó, Dibidí

Que sí, Dobodó

Que no, Dibidí

La muerte se enojó, Dobodó

Y le dijo <<Adiós>>, Adiós!
